Brother Tim met Pastor Ben Moore in the church parking lot in August 2012. Pastor Moore had just moved to Falls City as the new Pastor of the church. Brother Tim’s home is adjacent to the church parking lot. He was always outside working in his yard, so he was familiar with who was going in and out of the church. Brother Tim was not raised in a Godly home and the first words that he spoke to Pastor Moore were “you do not need to bother inviting me because I will never go to your church.” Pastor Moore just smiled and said, “that’s ok, let’s just see what God will do.”
Brother Tim was always outside in his yard and Pastor Moore was always at the church. They eventually became what Brother Tim calls “the best of parking lot friends” They eventually exchanged phone numbers and got to know each other on a personal level. As their friendship grew, Brother Tim still held on to the position of never going to church, but God had a different plan.
One day, the trials of life caused Brother Tim to seek help and he went to his friend Pastor Moore for counsel. They started meeting periodically and Pastor Moore counseled Brother Tim from the Bible. During this time, Brother Tim’s daughter and her two sons started attending VABC at the invitation of one of her co-workers. His grandsons became involved in the children’s programs and, through those programs, God drew Brother Tim to church. On December 19th 2019, at the age of 54, Brother Tim made his profession of faith.
Brother Tim began to crave the Word of God and as he grew in his faith, he understood that God wanted him to learn how to preach. Brother Chad Berry, who is now Pastor of the church, taught him how to preach. In November of 2022 God called Brother Tim to be a preacher of His Word. In January of 2023 Pastor Berry and Valley Avenue Baptist Church asked Brother Tim to be an Assistant Pastor, which he received with great joy.
